You are 11 months late. I have an RSP1b and it is worth the investment. I ordered mine anyway.
I just got mine the 1b version.. I had hell setting up the cheap rtl-Sdr.. took forever to make it work. No HF. THEN I got the SDRplay (on the 20th) downloaded sdrUno.. 5 minutes done! A bit of learning curve on the controls … boom! I absolutely love it! IT’s receive is better than my yaesu 991a.. definitely worth it

Yeah, SDRuno was a snap it install. I've been into computers since 1978 and the older I get the less I like fudging around stuff. I never would have guessed that 45 years into the future the cludge situation would still exist.

You have to know that the design is different. RTL-SDR is worse in so many ways. RTL-SDR aliasing is bad. Internal noise is bad. RTL-SDR is 8bit which isnt good for HF weak signal reception at all.

There is NO way RTL-SDR is comparable to any SDRPlay.
HF has nothing to do with 7/800 and SDR Trunk in my use case. IDGAF about the design differences; I care about performance and the RTL devices outperform my RSP1a in this application - plus there's no spyware checking in with the mothership (it's in the driver you must install).

Replaced my RSP1A on Saturday. Decided to go with the RSPdx-R2. Reason why I replaced my 1A is because I broke it dropping a heavy metal toolbox on it moving things around.

Are you implying or claiming that the driver for the SDRUno program is actual spyware? Please supply a link to your proof, because bold claims require evidence. Why? Because stories like this can lose a company their reputation, adversely affect sales, and thus hinder growth affecting new and improved products.

If true and you have proof, thank you for bringing it to our attention, if not...

According to the author of another software package, the API that you must install checks in with the mothership to verify if the radio is genuine vs a clone, and other functions like heartbeat, error reporting, etc. That's why his software doesn't support it and that's the only "proof" I have. So....

No, was the worst 120 some bucks I have ever spent. SDR Uno & SDR Connect are both trash software. Buy yourself 3 RTL SDR V4's for the same money. Works great for listening to FM radio broadcasts, thats about it.

I don't know why you would say that. Seems like you would rather have 8 bit ADC rather than 14bit ADC and 2.4msps rather than 10msps. SDRPlay does a fine job. I am receiving signals all over MW/SW/FMBC/Airband/VHF/UHF and trunking 850MHz all day with just 1 RSP1b and a collection of software with the RSP1b. Only 1 USB cable for that no external hubs.

Don't try to trash someone else's positive experience just because you can or because you can and had a bad experience from a defective SDRPlay device which is a rare occurrence. I own a RTL-SDR v4 and it is inferior to the SDRPlay. Just a fact with my hand up!
or are you just trolling??

My guess is Either you had a defective unit, or you possibly didn't set it up properly, or possibly an inadequate computer system. SDRUno has worked great! Since my last post, I have used it to discover at least new 8 repeaters, and even plot out link systems in my area by watching which spikes on the waterfall that corresponded to each other when active. Additionally I utilized it capture and decode the ISS SSTV, weather satellite fax in the 137-138 mhz range (with appropriate other software)..... ON A VERTICAL antenna! Then there is the ability to visually monitor an entire HF VHF band at once (except 440, too big), shortwave transmissions are easy to find. My antenna is a 40m EFHW. As the old saying goes.....YOUR mileage may vary;) Ill be sure to post some picts after I finish building a QFH for the 137mhz range....cheers, ...:)

I have the 1A not the 1B, -- BUT -- I LOVE IT! The software install was fast and bulletproof... as in perfect. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Would I buy another product from that company? Hell yes, in a heartbeat.
