Is the DMR firmware available on the web the same as Whistler will put on for 59.99

I see there is a series of firmware upgrades that allows you to update the pro 668 to be a PSR 800 and then you can load the Whistler WS 1080 firmware onto the radio but not the most current firmware there is something about a warning that you have to use a modified version and you can't update past a certain date.
Is the firmware that Whistler will put on the newest firmware or is it the same as what is available on the web to do yourself ?
Does anyone have the official updated firmware that Whistler puts on the pro 668 to update it to receive DMR ?
Does the official upgrade also give you NXDN ?

The official upgrade gives you DMR only. No NXDN! It also adds P25 Phase 2 to the Pro-18. If you use the firmware on the web, you may brick your scanner. It will also cost you more for the upgrade. The Whistler Legacy Upgrade converts the PSR-800, Pro-668, and Pro-18 to a Whistler WS1080. You will use the WS1080/WS1088 EZ Scan software for firmware, library, and EZ Scan application updates. I have seen many reports of improved performance after the upgrade.

No, not the hardware support required is not in the radio. If keyboard is needed just buy a WS-1088.

Unfortunately, prices for the upgrade have been increased by $10:

Units free of operational defects will be upgraded to the authorized Whistler DMR - $69.99

Units operating with unauthorized firmware will be upgraded to the authorized Whistler DMR - $99.99

Units previously not eligible (not fully functioning) for the authorized Whistler DMR update will be repaired and upgraded to include the authorized Whistler DMR - $129.99
