Sentinel: Is there any way to download an older database?

I just got a used SDS-100 and noticed that after updating it to the latest (as of earlier this week) database it’s not getting frequencies/channels that my BCD996 is, particularly the Rochester, MN all users ops channels. It wasn’t when I got it either. I want to use it to listen to the fire department while walking.

Since I can’t drive due to my low vision I obviously am not going to be rushing to calls and interfering with anyone. I updated the 996 a few years ago after I got it, also used. I also have a 396 but it drains batteries pretty quickly nowadays, especially rechargeable batteries which I recently bought.

Any help is appreciated.

You are comparing apples and oranges. There is no database on 996, and it obviously has been programmed with a custom list. And if the 100 was programmed the updated database would have no impact on programming.

To answer your question directly, no not unless you have the old copy of database in your possession.

Sounds like “fire tac” service may need to be turned on in sds100.

As already suggested by jtwalker, make sure that you have the correct service types enabled. When the scanner is first shipped, as well as when Sentinel is first installed, only the dispatch service types for public safety are enabled: Law Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, EMS Dispatch, and Multi-Dispatch. You should also enable the Tac & Talk service types for public safety, i.e. Law Talk, Fire Tac, EMS Tac, etc.

How did you program it? Did you manually create a Favorites list in Sentinel? Or did you append systems from the main database (after you updated the database for Sentinel)?

Are you using location control on your Favorites list? If so, make sure that your correct location & range are set in your profile in Sentinel. If using location control, when you create a Favorites list, be sure to include the location & range details for any systems, sites, & departments that are in your Favorites list. Also verify that your profile has your correct location, and desired range.

Have you tried scanning using the main database, along with a specified location & range?

As drdispatch has noted, be sure that the Favorites list you intend to use is set to be downloaded to the scanner (from Sentinel) and also tagged to be monitored by default.

On your SDS100:
Menu > Select Service Types
Menu > Set Scan Selection > Set Nationwide Systems

Good chance one or more of these aren't turned on.
