• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

HT1000 Is this the adapter I need to connect an HT1000 to coax?

The HT1000 antenna does not have a center pin from the picture I have, so that is not the correct connector on the end that screws on. Without knowing what coax, the other end is a BNC female, but it is not possible to give you an answer without knowing how the coax is terminated.

That BNC will not connect to the PL259. Another picture I checked shows the radio with a center pin connector, so you need to confirm which it has. Do a search on PL259 for the correct connector

Mine does (DN model). I couldn't speak for all of them.

I was just going to buy coax by the foot from the same website, so I can do whatever connector you guys think is best. I was going to do a compression type BNC connector, unless you guys advise against that for some reason. Trying to keep costs low mainly. Actually, I think I already have some coax cable laying around if I can find it.

That one may not reach the radios connector properly. And yes you want BNC female as that puts less stress on the radio.
It looks like it would. It looks exactly like the connector on the OEM antenna. I think the SMA adapters that don't work for Motorola are the ones that are recessed.

Here's what the factory antenna connector looks like.

NMO's installed, while-u-wait.
The antenna connector on top of an HT-1000 (or any of the Jedi radios) is a male SMA. A female SMA will work for making the connection.

Challenge is the spacing between the top of the center pin and the top of the radio can make some connectors problematic. Make sure you get one that is known to work.

Also, you need to be -REALLY- careful with attaching coax to the top of a portable radio. If your set up puts a lot of strain on the connector, it can damage the solder joint where the coax connector mates to the circuit board. Use thin/flexible coaxial cable.
Or better yet, use a mobile radio, like God intended.

If you are interested I have a factory motorola connector that clips onto the speaker mic port and has a short length of cable that terminates in a Male BNC

Good point. I ordered a RG174 with BNC connectors. Will also make it easier to do my coil to prevent the coax from becoming an antenna.

Thanks but I need a female. Coax I went with has a male connector.
