ISP D16 DISPATCH talkgroup 12512 showing up on West Lafayette site.

Have they started consolidating dispatch centers?

Sounds more like somebody roamed. Was the West Lafayette site in site trunking at the time? Last I heard, Lafayette was still dispatching.

Does anybody know, when the dispatching facilities are consolidated, will the district talkgroups be kept the same? It seems it would be a lot easier to put other districts talkgroups into a few consoles rather than reassign groups across the entire state, possibly renaming them as well.

DiGiTaLD - how would one know if a site goes into SITE TRUNKING?
I'm using a PSR500 and have all sites for District 14 in one TSYS with Multisite=STAT and checking all CCs.

D16 and D14 do sometimes consolidate dispatch responsibilities. It happens during certain hours and days of the week. Sometimes dispatching is done from/by D14 and sometimes it is done from/by D16. I don't believe they have actually physically consolidated into one site yet.

A dispatcher in either D16 or D51 said they were on site trackign last night. I am reasonably sure it was D16 most likely the Tipton tower.

Dist 14 ISP Post does this for Dist 16 when there is not enough dispatchers availble at the Peru Post Dist 16.Lafayette Post will make a dispatch on Lafayette's talkgroup for the post when they do this.I have heard this happen when there is no dispatchers availble on the Midnight shift. You will hear no difference on the cars calling the post other than if you are aware of voices at Dist 14 will will hear them on Peru's talkgroup. Peru cars are calling Peru and Lafayette Cars are calling Lafayette.I listen to Dist 14 all the time thru the Boone County Dist 52 Simucast and I hear Lafayette,Clinton County,Crawfordville.Peru post for ISP Dist 16 along with others.

On the radio it should either indicate no signal or say site Trunking on the display.
Some radio manuals also imply the Beeps received on key up will sound different for non-display radios.

For scanners I have idea how you would know except for for beeping,
Also problematic if consoles are connected by wireline.
Safe-t has a word paper here on the issues involved.

Some info:

D14 and D16 have not combined yet. D16 is down to two dispatchers and 14 is down to 3. To staff it, they are using the 5 dispatchers between the two districts. When 14 does not have the staff, 16 dispatches for both and vice versa.

The only district that has completely shut down dispatch so far is Sellersburg. Versailles is dispatching for them.

Noticed this this morning. Could just be a coincidence.

currently sellersburg is being 'farmed out' to versailles, seymour, and connersville...depends on day & shift...

I've not noticed it...But I've not listened much either.

However, Friday there was a reported accident (two phone calls) on I-65 and it took forever for ISP to figure out it was not an accident, it was a flat tire, it did not cross the median or crash into a semi, and the Fire Department cleared the scene before ISP even was dispatched.

If this is an example of things to come with consolidated dispatching... God help those with real emergencies, Radio (or telephone) communications between agencies was extremely poor on this call.

Does dispatch consolidation eliminate ISP dispatchers' ability to communicate with the locals on point-to-point? Delaware County and the Redkey post communicate very well on incidents like the one described above, but if Redkey's dispatcher were in Indianapolis (or wherever it's eventually getting moved to), I assume that Point wouldn't work anymore because they would be too far away. I guess they would just have to use the phone.

I do not hear very much radio traffic anymore on 155.370 Point to point like I used to.Now this has been replaced by the Statewide Regional Talkgroups like for Indianapolis Dist 52 wuld be J-MA-1, J-MA-2,J-MA-3.

PNP is now the Mutual Aid TGs...I think it will take some time for the distant Dispatchers to work up the Nerve to start calling the local agencies on the MA TGs to better facilitate info...as for the ISP around here, the Troopers all have the local TGs in there radios and quickly work with the other agencies when they are assisting on calls....only exception is THPD on there EDACS ProVoice system...Although the Troopers that are part of Vigo County's Drug Task Force have EDACS portables with them.

On a side not...from Saturday Morning until Monday Morning...Bloomington handled all of Terre Haute's radio calls

Alot of agencys in northern (eastern) part of Indiana still use the old point to point 155.3700 alot. MA talkgroups are rarely used... In District 25 I have heard the state do all broadcast which is heard on 25 Dispatch, the mutal aid talkgroup for the area and PT-2-PT .. Alot of the local PD's & Sheriff Dept also can be heard hitting Redkey on the PT-2-PT.

ISP District 16 at times have dispatched for District 25. Some times using District 25 talkgroup other times with both talkgroups patched togethor. Usually during coverage shortages and some holidays.
