Tompkins Talkgroups

Scroll up in this thread, there is a member who has offered to send the complete list of TGs offline. So far I have found it to be accurate based on what I hear.

Fire/EMS, with the exception of IFD, is going online this wednesday (10/1).

...and it's up and running.

So far it sounds pretty good.

It is odd how some voices sound clearer through the digital system, while others do not. One of the dispatchers with a higher pitched voice is often more difficult to understand, but then again, she was often difficult to understand before the new system went online. If she mumbles, then all bets are off. I guess air checks are not required (like they do in broadcasting) as part of the hiring process.

Digital seems to make this stuff more prominent for some reason.

Scanner programming

Now that I can hear EVERYONE, it's becoming a nightmare since I can't seem to lock-out individual users (talk-groups - yes) Did I program my Pro 2096 incorrectly? Also using win96

TG Programming

Don't think my original post went through............Now that I can hear EVERYONE on the 800 system, it's getting a little 'crowded'. I can lock-out TG's on my Pro-2096, but can I lock out individual users?
Thanks in advance.

Police and Fire Unit Numbering

Does anyone have a chart of the police and fire unit numbering for the county?

Code Listing

I think you might want the vehicle codes ???
00's - engines/pumpers, 20's - tankers, 50's - Ambulances, 40's, brush trucks/utility, 60's Chiefs, 70's EMS personnel. Don't know the rest
\
ie: 1551 = Slaterville Ambulance, 1763 = Speedsville 2nd assistant Chief

800 MHz info has not been submitted, except for a couple of emails that the system is up and running.

I did get a spreadsheet with talkgroups, but I don't know if all of the system frequencies are in there, and the SysID is not listed.

Medical Helicopter

Not exactly a TRS question, but when the chopper is called for:

1. Where does it (or they) come from?
2. What frequencies do they operate on, both in terms of hospital comms and air comms?

Thanks,
Barry

Without knowing where you are:

Air Medical Evacuation (Medevac) Helicopters in the Northeastern United States
http://home.comcast.net/~benandchrisie/medhelos.htm

Guthrie is on 453.900 base/458.900 helicopter 100.0 PL

I'm not sure how up to date the following link is but you may find it useful.

Guthrie: About the Helicopter Program
http://www.guthrie.org/Services/Helicopter/

They also use the local (fire, med. etc) frequencies for coordination. You should be able to hear them setting up the landing zone and frequency usage on the local frequencies.

BCD396T headaces

Well, I finally managed to set up my bcd396t, but performance is not good. Some transmissions are clear, some choppy, some sound like they are coming from under water! I can be in good reception area and still pick up tx one time fine, then not the next. Any other 396 users having problems? Am I doing something wrong?

Boatman, what firmware version do you have on your 396? You are aware that uniden just released a v3.01 a few days ago after the release of v3.00 just a month ago?

My other question is if anyone knows whether Ithaca police dept is in the clear?

P.F., Letme tell you a story. This unit came from Ausralia, which may explain a little or a lot. When I connect to PC, message says something like"scanner not allowed". Unit has no ESN or ESN checksum, so I cant even register, much less download updates. Firmware version nw is 1.13.03.
