The 8 track tape player was a hot item during the 60's ,then in the 70's the cassette played came out to replace it in the auto

Ray - this isn't an 8-track player. This is a crystal scanner that slides into an existing 8-track player...

That brings back memories, I had one of these BC 8 Track back in 1980. It had a very sensitive receiver and of course the audio.

I still have my Pioneer Supertuner 8track FM Rx only. And my Deep Purple Machine head, Cheech and Chong up in smoke, Pink Floyd, Frampton, and various Polka band 8 tracks. That supetuner still jams like you wouldn't believe.
Good find on the bearcat scanner. I have an old Sinclair tuner w/ no squelch, big dial tuner and connected between your am antenna and radio. I finally retired it to the archives some 20 years ago. This Rx had great sensitivity and did not float off freq. even on the worst Michigan roads.

Hi Phil and readers,

As an electronics tech having had my fingers in more repair jobs than places I'd rather have poked them into all I can say is 8 track players and everything associated with them is CRAP! There's a good side to crap, I fixed more using beer cans and Rat Shack grab bag transistors than you can shake a crowbar circuit at. Talk about a high profit margin, charging 50 bucks for a 10c transistor, a blob of solder and a can of Bud was pure gravy.

Those plug in novelty items, AM/FM tuners, shortwave converters and yes, even that POS no name scanner made me a popular guy with the bikers and vaners, not so popular with the police when they came to party in the shop around midnight. They didn't care about the wires hanging out because there are no connectors in the tape bay as long as it played moozik and told them where the pigs were hiding.

Purple maze around my brain
lately tape don't look the same.
It spilled out all on the floor
scuse me while I kill dis whore.
Duhn duhn DUHN duhn duhn DUHHH...BWOOoooWWWWooowwwWWW!!!!

Sorry 'bout the cheap Cheech rip off, I told you I like CRAP!

Ah, there's nothing like a lap dance with a biker chick, Super 8mm porn projected on the wall, a beer in hand and a frustrated cop banging on the door with me shaking my keys at him with the other hand not occupied by the beer or the biker chick. Thank you Audiovox, thank you Budweiser, thank you Pagans, thank you Archie and Edith for singing Those Were the Days and thanks to the Carteret Police for all the fun and games with radios that mysteriously fell silent when you pulled into the parking lot. Fade to black, go to commercial.
