• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Expo floor opens Wednesday, set up today and tomorrow...

And for those interested in next year, it's still in Las Vegas. Last year they did it in Florida and there was some rumors it would begin alternating between the West and East coasts, but looks like that was not the case, at least not yet...

Take a look and see if these nice Baofeng ladies survived the obvious onslaught of last year's IWCE in Orlando...

Each year there are more and more of the Chinese radios on display, and each year they are the butt of more and more jokes. Was at a presentation on interference today and they were talking about filtering on the RX side, you can guess where that topic went.

I made the mistake several years ago of looking at a few of their radios and letting the nice lady scan my badge. Still occasionally get weird e-mails.

Evidently BK Technology's new BKR9000 is going to be unveiled tomorrow according to their twitter feed. I'd love to see it and see how it might hold up in the wildland fire world.

Yeah, I saw that, I'll take a look. Not much experience with BK gear, but I do like their newer stuff.

I'm gonna see if I can't get Doyle or Jim at Freedom to spend some time with me on the R9000...been waiting for 7 months to see this thing and still want to see if I can arrange an evalulation for a week or so at some point. My major stops this morning are AEA Technologies (vendor breakfast at Sid's in the Westgate @730), Freedom (hopefully before 1000), GME, Icom, Etherstack, RF Technology, and maybe Aeroflex (since they are between AEA and Freedom's booth).

I'm here showing at 3371. Behind us is "Henglida" but you probably know them as ."Helida/Felida" The folks who brought you the T2M and T2MD!

Tiny Radio: Ahuago 470 / Felida / Helida / NKtech NK-M1 – Otaku Patrol Group

As a ham, I love seeing this stuff. As a technologist in the industry, I can't figure out what their strategy is to being here.

Are they trying to pick up channels partners in the radio shops?

I think IWCE 2016 was the major influx of the Chinese manufactures. From what I remember, most of them only brought RoCs that were questionably certified and weren't extremely feature rich. I believe their big push is simply trying to push low cost volume.

2016 was the year I got the flu at the show, along with a bunch of other folks I know.

I taught line sweeping this week, will be on the expo floor today and tomorrow between sessions. Anyone want meet up at a booth somewhere? I'm going to N257 at 10.15 for the PSAP presentation and 258 for the hurricane Maria AAR at 11.45.

I wear black T shirts and khaki shorts, pretty easy to spot. My pass has a speaker ribbon.

Hey, PM me if you get this, maybe we can meet up some time on Thursday afternoon. I'm book most of the morning, but afternoon is free.

Was that the session this afternoon? I was supposed to attend that but got talking to they guys at the Leonardo booth and missed it.

Maybe you and Project25 can meet up in the afternoon. I gotta be out by 5-5:30, though.
