I get alot of Jackson's local stuff on the above mentioned frequencies. The only reference to the Ocean Co. System that would be near there would be ID: "Plumstead" right?? Out of curiosity....I wonder why there isnt an ID for Jackson Township?

Jackson Township doesn't use any type of trunking. The 460 MHz frequencies are used for some sort of "rebroadcast" of police comms. I have yet to hear any oter type of comms on those channels. The only trunked systems that I know of around this area are Ocean County Sheriffs Department in the 506 MHz area.

Jackson no w also has 1 800 MHz frequency for the MUA

According to an inside source, Jackson Twp DID switch to a trunking system. From what I hear its just for fire dept use now. The newly licensed trunked frequencies are listed below. I'm still waiting for more info regarding this system.

506.5875
507.0875
507.3375 Dispatch/Alerting

Apparently they no longer tone out on 33.80, nor do they use it for fireground comms any longer.
But tone out on 507.3375.....
fire ops is supposedly trunked.

I'm getting all this info second hand and just passing it on.
The above frequencies are licensed as trunked channels on the FCCs data base. But wheather they are being used as trunked is another story.
Maybe some one in the Jackson area can try those new frequencies out and see what they hear. Since I'm a little out of the area.

Took a ride and sat on a side street off County Line Road right off of US9. I monitored all of the listed 500MHz frequencies and looked for a control channel or other activity.

For the hour that I monitored, none of the listed frequencies was a control channel or a data channel. Only one frequency, 507.3375, was keyed during this time. I did not hear any voice comms of these frequnecies- but that's not unusual if there was no fire traffic.

The only control channel of any sort that I could receive from that location in the car was 508.4375 which is 5c3f- the Ocean County system. There was a considerable amount of EMS traffic in and around Dover Twp.

If Jackson is indeed trunked, it was either not turned on or in use during the time I monitored the frequencies.

There is a possibility this is an LTR system. If it is, that would explain why we're not hearing a control channel.

listening to this system tonite resulted in hearing no active traffic channels, but every once in a while do hear the squelch breaking with a short transmission like the system is perhaps being tested.

saw these LTR readings but could have been due to noise

0 00 69
0 00 74
0 00 82
0 00 94
0 00 154
0 00 167
0 00 185

also saw a readout for LCN 05

The short transmissions/key-ups approx every 30 seconds are charactoristics of an LTR trunked system.
And I'm told the fire dept is the only user. (At least right now). That would explain the in-activity.

this is a link to LTR system info on this site and you can also see one at http://www.optoelectronics.com/tech/pdf/ltr_faq.pdf

the activity was detected on the first frequency in the TRS DB but heard bursts on all channels

you can decode LTR with old PRO series scanners (evidently the older version had LTR but the newer ones dont), with the Optocom Optotrackker (http://optoelectronics.com/ but no longer made) but you can see info on it here at http://www.durhamradio.com/optotrakker.htm
it also does DTMF, DCS, CTCSS and moto and doesnt require a PC to work, it wouldnt be a bad thing to have around if you can find one on ebay cheap

Thanks Steve

Yea, I would agree that its an LTR system the re-keying is a dead give away. Fire depts are the hardest to pick off because message are short and to the point. Dont now how fast the city in question is to see if lots of radio traffic would exist or not. The systems out here by me are consstant and never stop guess im lucky like that. But theres an ltr system out here thats throwing me for a loop, they have got be the hardest to stay with, control channel are so much nicer. But then your talk about a 1,ooo or more add to the setup costs. Just thought I drop in and say thanks to steve as well as on your ltr system that like to throw all of us for a loop at times.

there is no traffic on this system yet as I can monitor all the freq's and would hear the voice no matter how short the messages are.

think they are either testing or system isnt up yet or my optotracker has given me bad data from noise

active LTR heard in central NJ

anybody near jackson that wants to hear what an LTR system sounds like can tune to a pretty active one on 461.05 which is a car service on SI NY that can be heard in most of central NJ or the homan LTR system on the western part of the state and you can freq from the TRS DB
