I live right on the border of MD, VA and WV, right by Harpers Ferry. From what I understand, Harpers Ferry PD and several other departments/agencies use Jefferson County's radio system. However, for whatever reason, the database loaded into my BCD436HP lacks those talk groups, and I'm too dumb to figure out how to add them. Is my information correct? Can we get those talk groups added to the database?

This may be the reason you cant find them on your scanner, is your scanner " P25 Phase 11 compatible scanner ? " if not , your out of luck.

Some talkgroups on this system are using Project 25 Phase II TDMA modulation which can ONLY be monitored using a P25 Phase II compatible scanner

It is; the BCD436HP is a digital trunking scanner that "does" P25.

It does indeed handle both Phase I and Phase II. I have no issues listening to Loudoun County or any other P25 system in the area. This seems to be a programming issue with the RR database file more than anything.

Do you know how to add what you want to your scanner by means of manually programing them in ? or am I misunderstanding what you are asking ?

Thank you, Andy. I guess the Harpers Ferry 4-officer police department just doesn't do much talking, lol.

When I tried to put my scanner into "discovery" mode, I noticed Jefferson County was not in the list of trunked systems available, which I didn't understand as I could "hold" the scanner on the Jefferson County tag. So I did a conventional discovery over night with the highest and lowest frequencies found on this page- www.jeffcowv.com - Freqs

I ended up with 31 unique hits... Now, if I can figure out what to do with that info, I'll be alright ;-)

I can send you my .HPD file I use for the entire DC area, including Jefferson & Berkeley Counties and you can drop it into Sentinal and you'll be all programmed up. Of course, that takes the fun out of figuring things out and learning about how the scanner operates. Let me know.

Actually, I think I'd like to do both, Andy! I will continue fiddling with my scanner and reading the "better" manual, and compare what I come up with to yours.

Thank you!!!

Stupid question - are the talkgroups labeled "privated" actually encrypted?

Some of the Private TG's are encrypted. Most that I have programmed into the x36 are in the clear so they can be monitored.
