Thanks for the advice. I might ought to stock up on the belt clips/door clasps... I'm rough on belt clips... Thanks for the tip on the DMR upgrade.

I haven't experienced the battery or battery cover clip issues (knock on wood). I use the external charger mostly, occasionally charging the battery while in the radio (usually when traveling). I have the leather case for the SDS100 which has a substantial swivel belt clip which has worked well. It has enough ventilation the scanner doesn't overheat.
