Hi all,
I'm having trouble with an old (new to me) Uniden BCD996XT and getting the KSD radio channel.
I have set this up using the provided software and taking the frequencies straight from RR. I am able to get all the analog channels (county fire and TLPD), but I can not get KSD to work. I have tried every setting, and used some of the last posts regarding this. I have the frequency and NAC correct, but the most I will get is the "click" of the transmission, but no actual audio coming through (i have a friends working scanner that I am listening to, to know when the real transmissions are). Does anyone have any ideas?

What "provided software"? The 996XT doesn't come with software out of the box. Welcome to the forums

Thank you, Its the "ARC-XT" software. My bad, I assumed it came with the device, as I got it as a package deal from someone else.

If Kenosha Sheriff is Simulcast P25, you have the wrong scanner. The SDS series is the only scanner made that will work with P25 simulcast technology. The Unication G series pager works as well but it isn't a true scanner.
As simulcast P25 expands in use in today's world the cheap scanners won't decode them properly. This has been documented on RR for a very long time.

After playing with the settings, it seems like the squelch is extremely temperamental, and needs to be set low on my radio. Otherwise I have been missing transmissions.

It's Simulcast p25 conv. I live in Racine and can receive KSD on my sds100. You need the sds series scanners or Unication G2 VHF, G3 or G5 VHF in order to hear everything.

It may depend on location, but it comes in just fine on my bcd325p2 in Kenosha. Even in a bad location it his scanner would still receive it. It would just be a little broken up.

I would assume because youre in kenosha. Im in Racine and it's breaking up on my 325p2. Sds100 receives it perfect but not pppd dispatch.
