I have several frequencies loaded onto my Kenwood TH-F6 and found according to Kenwood that I will have to do a reset of the radio. Reason for the reset is that I have a repeater frequency that I try to connect to. But, all I get is to listen, even though the frequency for it shows - on the screen.

Does anyone know of a way to save the loaded frequencies? I do not want to loose those as they are numerous for various areas of the US.

As noted above, Kenwood produced a free memory control program for that radio. You will need a programming cable. There are lots of cheap programming cables on Ebay that use the Kenwood plug layout, but I think you'll have less headaches if you buy from a known supplier. I've had good luck with Valley Enterprises cables. Their cable that will fit the TH-F6 is here: Kenwood KPG-22 USB FTDI Chipset Two-Way Radio Programming Cable

One quirk about the TH-F6. In order to program it from a PC, you'll have to go into Menu 9 and change the setting to "PC". Don't forget to change it back when you are done programming.

I'm curious about the problem you ran into. What frequency do you have programmed and why do you have to reset the radio to change it?

I don’t think a reset is needed here. The correct CTCSS/DPL for the repeater is probably not set, or not enabled for TX. Thus, the OP can hear, but not raise the repeater. Additionally, or alternatively, the offset may not be entered correctly.

@Awaf - What are the input and output frequencies for the repeater, or what is the frequency and offset? What tone does the repeater require? Next question is what do you have programmed in your radio for that repeater?

I also agree that a full reset is not likely needed. The affected channel can be re-programmed as necessary (frequencies, tones, offsets) without resetting the entire radio. Confirm the settings that are required for the subject repeater and re-program as necessary.
Having said that, however, it would still be a good idea to procure a memory-saving application and cable that works with your TH-F6a.

I press MNU button and nothing happens. After pressing MNU and the arrows on each area, left; right; up; down; all I see are the frequencies that are already loaded onto the radio. That is why Kenwood stated that I need to do the reset of the radio. So, now I am trying to get the frequencies saved to the computer via cable. But keep running into COMMUNICATION TIMEOUT ERROR when trying to save the frequencies.

What software are you using?

What cable are you using?

Did you follow the instructions about changing the function of the SP/MIC jacks that I posted above?

I have done a reset of the Kenwood TH-F6 per solution suggested by Kenwood. Now I have lost all the frequencies. Had to put a specific one in and tried to connect to the repeater. I can hear the persons on it. But, when I press the transmit button, all I see is the Red light lit at the top. The persons that I hear on the unit with the repeater the button is green.

Specifically what repeater are you trying to use? Did you enter in the proper offset for the repeater? Is there a tone needed to access the repeater and did you enter it? I have had the Kenwood TH-F6A since it came out years and years ago. If you want to program teh radio easily, use the free software that Kenwood provides to you. The red indicator light means you are transmitting. The green light indicates that you are receiving.
