Hi my friends !
I have Question for those who know a lot about any topic or doubt about Kenwood radios...
Is there any way to delete, erase or simply remove an unwanted license loaded on a Kenwood radio (NX5000 0r NX3000 series) ?

Not to recover it, just to delete it!

Definitely, the 72 hours that Kenwood gives as a grace to remove it, that time has passed...

It's a basic question just to know if it's possible and if possible, know how?

Information for those not familiar with optional licensing for the Kenwood NX-5000, NX-3000 series models... There are optional licenses that can be activated within the radio such as for example bluetooth programming, 4000 channels, Front panel programming, P25, DMR and etc. When any of these optional licenses are activated in a radio (via KPT-300LMC), once activated, a timer starts counting down and you have 72 hours to make up your mind if you want to leave it or deactivate it. You would deactivate it before 72 hours should you decide you want to use the license on a different radio. Once the 72 hours expire, that optional license is then permanently activated and assigned to that radio. I personally am not aware of any type of work around to remove an optional license after expiration of the 72 hours...

And yes, I know how long Kenwood allows to decide whether to leave the license on the radio or not!

But I need and hope that any already installed licenses can still be removed.

Would you mind sharing why you need them removed?
Selling Radio and do not want the buyer to have them?
If you are keeping the Radio just do not use the options.
Added options add value to the Radio when you sell it you can sell it for more.

But of course, my friend, let me tell you, it's the same license they talk about in the post I referred to above, a post that was published right here on RadioReference at the end of April.
It doesn't allow reading or writing with the regular D1 , and that's the idea, to leave them free to be programmed with any regular D1 !
I've been able to program them with specific frequencies that the client tells me, and they're working, but so far, only on my computer, nothing more.
The radio(s) in question belong to clients who also purchased them on eBay or something similar.

And per that thread, you need to send them into Kenwood or United Radio to have the feature removed, those are your options.

Yes, that's what I suspected when I referred to that post.

That's when I knew that there is a way to remove licenses!
