• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

KSC-24 is the one for that radio and what I have for my radios.

Try Endura Chargers for your mobile charger. They sell chargers for many different radios. I got a real nice double charger from my TK-5210s. They make single chargers and you can order the mobile power cord for them.

According to an old TK-290/390 brochure I have, the KVC-3 is/was the regular-rate vehicular charger adapter.

The KSC-19 (NiCd) and KSC-24 (NiCd/NiMH) are the correct chargers for this radio.

I'm not aware of Kenwood making a mobile charger like that. They have them for newer radios, but I've never seen one for that vintage.
Powerproducts would be a good place to check to see suitable options, however.

KVC-3 was the vehicular charger adapter for the KSC-19 desk charger.

Thanks for the correction on the KVC-3. :)

I'm guessing the OP is looking for something like a Convertacom but for a 90 Series handheld.

Yeah, I've never seen one for those. Actually, never seen a convertacom style product for any Kenwood portable.

The mobile chargers are nice. I have them for my Motorola and some other Kenwood models. But doesn't appear they ever made one for the TK-x90 series, which is strange since the fire service really liked those.

The KVC-6A was the drop in "box" charger with a VR switch on it. They were labeled and sold by Kenwood but built and maintained by TPL.

Edit..KVC-5A.

I've never seen the KVC-6 sold as being compatible with the TK-x90 line. Can you confirm it works?

You are correct, it was the KVC-5A, not 6 (just checked service orders). We had a fire dist with tons of them with TK-290's. They got them wet a lot and off to TPL they went. I'll edit my last post also.

Nice, I might need to find one of those. I've got one for my JT1000 and one for the newer Kenwoods (NX-3000).

I've also discovered that TPL was kind enough to use the same power/control cable pinout for all of them.
