I have purchased a used TM-742 tri band radio, and I believe it has the TSU-7 option installed (I will be taking it apart to verify soon).

When I try to set a tone frequency (long press of the TONE button where it displays 88.5) and then try to change it with the master knob, all it does is change the RF frequency instead.

For example:

1. Set repeater frequency 145.19
2. Set offset
3. Enable tone (T)
4. Long press TONE button displays 88.5
5. Rotate master knob to change tone (according to manual)
6. Instead, the repeater frequency changes to 145.20

Wondering if anybody has seen this problem before.

Long press (more than one second) function then tone. After the function long press you only need to tap the tone button.

You'll have tone without the TSU-7 on transmit but if you want it on receive you'll need the board.

Thank you, that did it! I misunderstood the manual!

You're more than welcome. Still run a 641 and 741 myself so congrats, welcome to the club. Up in my area we all have the 220 modules for the 3rd band. I've got newer stuff and some digital voice modes too but frankly my day to day at home is my trusty 641.

73- Greg.
