Hi, I recently purchased online, a Kenwood TS 120V a 10 Watt version of the TS 120s.
As far as I know they are the same except for the output section. It seems to transmitt good, I tested thru a wattmeter and dummy load. Does 10 Watts to 12 Watts on max setting.
I just need help from someone who knows this rig either the V or the S version. When I first tested the receiving
I noticed the AF/RF Control seemed tight.
When I turned either the AF or RF then the other also turned. I took the radio outside and sprayed the AF Gain/RF pots with deoxit while turning them and also the band switches.
Sometime the signals would drop down when changing bands but readjusting the RF from max down a little then back up would raise the back ground noise back up.
A day or so later I found out that if I pulled out the AF knob the RF gain control now seemed to move freely now.
I should mention that when receiving the rf needle did not move at all even with hi modulating signals. In max rf gain the rf reading sits just below 4.
If anyone that technically knows this radio could reply to me with any info that would be highly appreciated. I will try to post photos are video if possible.
Thank you, Jim.
PS. When I try to upload my photos or video it is not excepted?
