i thought i would share this since it helped me considerably.
After having this issue, i tried every suggestion in this thread with no real luck. Sure rubbing alcohol, lighter fluid, or wd 40 might have taken it off, if i would have kept scrubbing on it for the next several hours, but i didnt want to wait that long. (and i just had shoulder surgery, which wasnt helping things). I wanted to try paint thinner but remembered the last time i used paint thinner to clean some paint off of my timex watch; it pretty much melted the screen rendering it completely useless. So i thought i'd try my ol ladys 100% acetone nail polish remover. sure enough! I soaked a q tip in that and just gently slid the q tip across the screen. It immediately created a line where it touched. I continued with the entire screen and had it perfectly shiny in less then 30 seconds, with absolutely no effort whatsoever.
So 100% acetone nail polish remover will help greatly, for anyone who picks up an older one of these with the old matte finish screen..
