EZ Scan Digital

snjct2000, great question..

The EZ Scan Digital "name" is silkscreened from the inside.
Any cleaning, painting, ect. from the outside will have no effect
so the only thing to mask is the display "window"

Face plate deterioration

I had the same problem with the black matt finish wearing off. I contacted GRECOM and they sent a new replacement faceplate without the matt finish. It took about 10 minutes to swap it out. They will do this for you if you mail your unit in but I chose to do it myself. It took over a month to receive the faceplate as they were out of stock. There was no charge at all.
Good luck!

gre psr-800

I emailed GRE,no reply as of yet.
I did the mineral spirits thing with the qtips and chased it with the goo gone, looks decent!
I have no idea why they put the coating on,it actually looks more special now.
Did the same with the edges of my home patrol, thanks for the idea RR members!

Don't hold your breath on those faceplates.

Sadly, GRE is shut down for good.

i thought i would share this since it helped me considerably.

After having this issue, i tried every suggestion in this thread with no real luck. Sure rubbing alcohol, lighter fluid, or wd 40 might have taken it off, if i would have kept scrubbing on it for the next several hours, but i didnt want to wait that long. (and i just had shoulder surgery, which wasnt helping things). I wanted to try paint thinner but remembered the last time i used paint thinner to clean some paint off of my timex watch; it pretty much melted the screen rendering it completely useless. So i thought i'd try my ol ladys 100% acetone nail polish remover. sure enough! I soaked a q tip in that and just gently slid the q tip across the screen. It immediately created a line where it touched. I continued with the entire screen and had it perfectly shiny in less then 30 seconds, with absolutely no effort whatsoever.

So 100% acetone nail polish remover will help greatly, for anyone who picks up an older one of these with the old matte finish screen..

I used charcoal lighter fluid (for the Bar B Que).
Came right off, no rubbing.
