• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Wouxun KG-Q10H - Headset PTT transmitting in the wrong area

Hello, friends.

When I connect a headset to the radio in dual-channel mode, pressing the PTT transmits on the wrong channel. Instead of transmitting on the selected channel, it transmits on the other channel.

Is this normal, a defect in the radio, or did I make a configuration error? Note that neither of the channels is marked as a favorite.

Please see the examples below for clarity.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. Are you using a Wouxun headset, and if so, it it one that's designed to be compatible with your model radio?
  2. Is there a config option either via radio menu or via software for the way the active XMIT bank is selected?

1. There is no headset listed as an accessory for this model on the manufacturer's website. I have 5 different headphone models, tested them all, and the problem persists.

2. I did not find this option in the configuration menu. (see image below)

I don't know what this is, nor where this option exists in the CPS.
My bad. I meant to say, can you disable the "B" PTT (Push To Talk) XMIT (transmit) function button?
It sounds like the headset is somehow causing a shift from "A" to "B" PTT functions.

And to clarify, "headset" to me means an over the head rig with earphone(s) and a boom microphone. Do you have just a plain speaker/microphone to try?

I understand. Don’t worry, because the terms you are using are actually correct. However, due to my inexperience and the fact that my native language is different, some terms end up being confusing. Translators sometimes betray us, as with the word "headset." Haha!

Even if there is an option to disable transmission in area “B,” I prefer not to do that because I need to listen on both channels and respond promptly to both.

Regarding the "headset," below are images of the ones I tested.

If this issue cannot be resolved, I will have to get used to the fact that the transmission will occur on the non-selected channel.

I solved the problem!

I'll post it here to help anyone who might make the same mistake as I did. 😄

In CPS, under the "Key Settings" tab, I changed the "PTT1" assignment to "SECONDARY" and left "PTT2" as "MAIN." This made the headset PTT always activate the secondary channel that was programmed in "PTT1."

I hope my experience can be useful to someone.

Thanks to my colleague @ladn for trying to help me.

Best regards.
