Sorry Chief, I had written two paragraphs of reply, but some inadvertent mouse bump or something deleted the entire reply in RR Without warning. I will try again shortly, And thanks for taking interest.

Hi Chief, I wrote this time in Word and copy pasted that here..

So many issues Chief and thanks again for replying. I’ve written this offline in Word because that’s dependable; it doesn’t delete stuff just ‘cause you breathed on it.

Here are two of the most egregious problems:

1, I have sat for hours trying to figure out how to insert a new blank line (or a data line) between two adjacent lines. It always wants to paste without insert thereby writing over whatever line may have been there where I wanted to insert, paste. I have spent hours and lost many data lines trying every way I can think of to insert a blank line or existing data line that I copied.

2, Another one is that even though I may have just done a Copy in the application, it will paste something that was on the clipboard before I even started the program. In other words Copy didn’t really do anything at all.

I will save you from the long list of items that are related but too confusing for me to even to describe coherently. I will spare you from the many many other issues I am having…

I need the 2.5 kilohertz version. I have tried typing using the 5 kilohertz version and that seems to be more stable and reasonable, but I need 2.5 spacing

Thanks, Don

Can anyone help me with this dreadful program?
I don't own a KGUV7D, but I am familiar with similar radio programming software. Generally, these Asian applications can not be relied upon to act like mature, well-polished, mainline programs. Copy and Paste, for one, seems to be a frequent problem. When entering data, it's often best to plan out your strategy beforehand and enter the data line by line, without any rearranging. In many cases, the initial order doesn't really matter if you later have to create zones and/or scanning lists.

FYI - Here's what AI has to say about the KG7D programming software and other alternatives...

"For the Wouxun KG-UV7D, the best programming software is RT Systems RPS-KGUV7D, known for its user-friendly interface, spreadsheet layout, and ability to manage both memory channels and advanced menu settings, often sold as a kit with the necessary USB cable, though CHIRP is also a free alternative for broader compatibility. The official Wouxun software and a USB cable (like RT Systems' K4Y or a compatible one) are required, with RT Systems offering a more streamlined experience than the manufacturer's basic CD version for many users.
Key Software Options
  • RT Systems RPS-KGUV7D: Highly recommended for ease of use, featuring copy/paste, column editing, and integration with repeater directories.
  • CHIRP: A free, open-source option that supports many radios, including the KG-UV7D, allowing for frequency changes beyond standard ranges (use with caution).
  • Official Wouxun Software: Available from vendors like Fleetwood Digital, it's functional but can be less intuitive than RT Systems.
What You'll Need
  • Software: Choose from RT Systems (paid), CHIRP (free), or the Wouxun official software.
  • USB Programming Cable: Essential for connecting the radio to your PC; RT Systems' K4Y cable is a popular choice, or you can find compatible cables.
  • Computer: Runs on Windows (7, 8, 10, 11) for most options.
Where to Get It
  • RT Systems: For their dedicated software and cable kits (e.g., BetterSafeRadio, RT Systems website).
  • Powerwerx & Fleetwood Digital: Offer Wouxun cables and sometimes the official software.
  • CHIRP Website: For the free software download."

Thank you Chief,

I am not surprised to hear your summary of the bad software that seems to be out there. I will change the program I'm trying to use, but there is one thing that I had not thought about That is still confusing to me. The software I have been trying to make work just says KG-UV7D, Not RPS-KGU7D, and it was free. Did I just download the some garbage wannabe? If so, I will delete it post haste, buy the RPS-KGU7D, in its kit form and hope for success from that. I can always download chirp if needed beyond that.

Thank you for your well thought out replies, and wish me luck.

I don't know about what you already have, but if you're considering purchasing another version, you should consider the RT Systems software.
Generally, their software is well-regarded, and if you already have a programming cable, you can buy the software alone for a reduced price (usually $25). If you purchase online, you can download the program immediately.

Hey Chief, I don’t really know what I have now either, except that it is clearly not the RT systems one. I just bought the RT Systems kit from Better Safe Radio. I paid for the whole kit including cable, even though I have a cable already, I don’t want any more confusion downloading online packages that are clearly not suitable. RPS-KGU7D Is the one from RT systems so I will wait for shipment of the physical package from Mark.

Thanks again for all your help, it is really appreciated. You went out of your way to give me all the help you can

Don
