Totally agreed, Johnny. If it's one thing that pisses me off about some ham ops, it's the Anti-CB attitude. I run 100w on CB and dang proud of it. Lots of good information you can gather from talking to people on there, and laid back too! (not all "HI HI FINE BUSINESS THERE ON THE FINE BUSINESS HIHI QSL")

Nice mobile setup !

It has came to my understanding, myself being a ham, hams are somewhat "jealous" that CB'ers can do the same thing on sideband they can on 10, 15, and 20 meters.

I'm a ham. And I have multiple CB's. WOO HOOO... bash me!

I like my sideband adventures thank you. Some hams need to own up and not forget where thier roots are. Truth be known, 75% of hams out there got thier start in.. *gasp*.. CB...

Something else, most of your loudmouths on CB sideband are probably hams "going down there" to cause mischief. They know they can't do it on 10 or 15, so they slide on down to CB sideband and cause a ruckus cause they know they can get away with it.

Not bashing hams, cause I'm one myself.. But I think the CB vs. Ham horse has done been beaten many years ago, for too long.

Nice setup! It makes me happy to know that there are some hams out there who actually enjoy CB radio in addition to Amateur Radio. I myself first started out in CB radio, still have my 1st rig and still use that rig to this day when I want to communicate with friends around town. I have a mobile CB rig for bicycle mobile and another mobile rig for home use. My 1st CB rig is at home in my bedroom on a small table next to my bed. Ok I got completely off the subject, but yeah thats a nice setup.

Gone with the wind

I got tired of the gas prices... I drive 40+ miles each way to work and as much as I absolutely loved that truck, I couldn't afford to put $80+ a week into gas...

So... she got traded in 2 weeks ago...

I got a 2007 Dodge Charger ($45 a week in gas!) , in which I am already planning for another radio install.

It's a damned shame though - Jottodesk makes a console for the Dodge Charger, but only the police package puts the shifter on the column - every other model (including mine!) has it dead center on the center console! So I am left having to work around that center console... Guess I'll have to stick with a remote-head setup.

I'll post everything when it gets done!

What are you using as a pwr source I built up a small distribution box with Anderson Pwr Poles nice small with a variance of different size fuzes. Just curious what folks use when they have a nice console like you have installed.

What Charger did you get...3.5 or 5.7?

Even though the 5.7 hemi was only 2 MPG worse, it was also $5k more, so, after having test drove the 3.5 and finding that it was more than enough, I went that route.

Great looking setup. I have the same console in my s-10 and would like to know where you got the faceplate for the 7800R casue I have the same radio and have a little to big of faceplate right now. Looks like the one your have is a perfect size. Please give dimensions as well for faceplate for 7800R thanks..

It's a 2" plate - model number 425-6125 - the mounting holes could stand to be a little further back but it does the job nicely! I also got a 1" blank filler plate to fill in the blank space, model number 425-6049 ...

Since the measurements for the FT-8800/8900R are the same as the FT7800, they would fit as well.

Nice install, but (I don't usually say this) I really like the truck. I've loved many cars over the years and generally don't care anymore. To me they're just another tool to use in life. The new Mustangs still do it for me as does just about any Corvette. But I really like your truck, and the antenna placement is very artistic! Good job!
