"In 2013, the FCC will no longer license low-band radio, which is all of our fire departments," said Commissioner Jim Scahill of the multimillion dollar project.

Did not know the FCC will not renew or license low band anymore. I think the Commissioner maybe wrong.

This sounds like another sales force spouting some snake oil pitch to get a sale. The 2013 date is being bent to suite the advantage of those that are selling their wares and the county not doing their homework.

See this going on all the time with different counties. Ran into one this past week where one of the major companies came in and sold a new console system to a county even though they were currently using a current console system that is still being sold. The dispatchers hate the new system and wish they had the one that was replaced. The dispatch manager was never even involved in the process.

Again we see the wine and dine fast footwork lead the uneducated down the rosy path to higher profits for the sales force. Hope the tax payers find out about how their county administration got sold a slick sales pitch and didn't have a technical person or engineer check out the details.
