KAPL

167.9800
168.4500

GE:
461.5875
464.1375
461.1375
461.1625
461.7375
451.2250 (R&D Facility)

KAPL also has 'site control personnel' that are employed by G4S and are unarmed.

Are these GE freqs for the Main Plant (downtown)? If not, does anyone have current freqs for the site? I've had some in my R5 for a while and never heard a peep.

GE Fire I know rides along with Schenectady fire as I hear them test each night.

are you sure you are not hearing dispatch do a radio check with GE Base? GE fire can transmit on 460.600 and notifies dispatch when they go out on a call etc..... I wouldn't think the SFD union would allow GE to ride along with them etc
What freqs did you have in your scanner for GE - maybe we can eliminate some of the list above and narrow it down.

Well, listen to SFD do their radio check at 18:00 today. GE Fire calls in on that. However, I never hear any on-plant activity on what I perceive as current GE frequencies (fire or security). I wish I had my R5 with me as I'd pull those out and post here. Will do when I get home.

Scott you are correct GE base is part of the radio check that SFD does everyday. GE fire operates on 460.600 to notify SFD they are responding to calls on campus etc... They dont use 460.600 as a fireground or in house comms so they must have another freq.
I was only saying that GE fire doesn't ride along with SFD personnel as you implied, please don't take my post as a insult to your post or your knowledge. I was just trying to clarify what you posted.

No insult taken at all...I apologize for sounding that way in the text. Def was not my intent. I'm an on again/off again amatuer scanner listener and I always lose touch in the off-again timing! I greatly appreciate any support or infos from this forum - good information (99.44% of the time)!

GE notifies SFD by phone most of the time, they don't want anyone in scanner land to know that they have an incident going on. When they request SFD to the plant they ask them do dispatch it via telephone most times.

GE is part of their radio check because of their Schenectady FD base radio. Union College also has a base station, but most calls to and from both places are mostly handled by phone as is the case with most inter-agency communications these days.

Anyone know the system that KAPL uses? I was listening a little today when driving through Niskayuna and heard what sounded like AEGIS, an old form of encryption by MACOM / Ericsson, unless they are using a VHF TRS and that was the Control Channel but it didn't remain constant. I'm not a real radio geek so I might be pulling a lot of that out of my you know what.
