I'm no expert, but it appears the 2 recently added new towers near Assaria and Brookville are using the same trunking frequencies as the KHP Academy tower in Salina. Lots of simulcast distortion in south Salina. Anyone else experiencing this?
I noticed that too. It seems unusual. It appears to be a simulcast site.
All three locations on the license have the same six frequencies.

In my travels all over the state, I have not noticed any other county using simulcast on the KSICS System.
True, but those are stand-alone systems and not part of the KSICS statewide system. It looks like every site name that has the word "county" in it is simulcast.
I think your statement is incorrect. All of those "county" sites are listed under KSICS. They are sites on the KSICS system.True, but those are stand-alone systems and not part of the KSICS statewide system.

Are all the county simulcast towers also owned and maintained by KDOT?I think your statement is incorrect. All of those "county" sites are listed under KSICS. They are sites on the KSICS system.
I have no idea. The towers don't necessarily need to be owned or maintained by the state in order for there to be a radio site on them. In my area I know of at least 2 sites that are using leased tower space. Are all the county simulcast towers also owned and maintained by KDOT?
After a couple meetings this week, I think we are going to see more county owned towers coming in the next two years. I don't know that they are going to simulcast however I can see some good increases in portable coverage in some areas.Douglas and Miami are simulcast.
Yes, counties can own sites on the system.
Why do you think those are county owned?Franklin has 5 non simulcast sites, county owned.
I was present during process. There's a connection agreement with the state but the infrastructure and subscribers are county/city owned. Why do you think those are county owned?
Osage Co will soon have 3 non-simulcast sites on KSICS, county owned. They are also filling the Franklin County owned Appanoose and Williamsburg sites to full 6-packs in lieu of using them to cover the eastern side of Osage County. When that takes place, I believe Franklin will only have 1 site that is not a full 6-pack.
I'm almost certain that law will remain encrypted. Surrounding counties having access is still in the works.Did they ever get their heads right in regard to encryption? It sucks not being able to hear you guys from over here in the East, especially since all our weather comes from there.
The state put up around 76 towers to provide the needed MOBILE coverage statewide for KHP and KDOT. Anyone that wants enhanced coverage puts up additional sites at THEIR expense, but the state holds the license for the frequencies. KDOT has stated repeatedly that they have no plans to put up any additional state owned towers. It's on the locals dime. Why do you think those are county owned?
