Does anyone have any inside information on when they plan on completing the switchover of the eastern region towers? I know they are doing it in phases. Just wondered how far away they were from completing the second phase.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean "rebanding"? Are you talking about dropping the WyCo and JoCo trunks for the digital trunk, or what? The conventional system is gone, so it can't be that.

Compared to 44.980 it's night and day. I never bothered to program them in the portables when they were on loband.

Digital compared to loband, how do the Troopers compare them?

Is KHP - Wichita going to go digital soon? That timeline doesn't really say when a "region" will be digital, from the 800 analog mot type 2 system.

I was in Wichita over the weekend and monitored the Wichita/Sedgwick system on my 2096 and KHP-F on El Dorado and Wichita towers on my 396. It seems that dispatch is simulcasting over both systems on traffic stops. It didn't matter which system the officer would call in on, and I heard them on both, you could hear the dispatch read back on both systems.

Yes, KHP Troop F - Wichita metro area uses the 800mhz towers from Sedgwick County. Let me tell you, works out great when there are only 2-3 troopers out and 7-9 deputies.. we can switch back and forth when backing eachother and monitor eachothers channels in the cars...

I never used the 44mhz low band, but I'll take the conventional trunk over the digital trunk. Even if it's scratchy, at least I can hear SOMETHING. With digital, it's either on or off. No in between.

i agree. conventional trunk was nice. the problem i notice is that my xtl 5000 mobile will try to grab a digital tower thats 40 miles away while ive got a stronger signal on a closer tower. i think the radio needs to think a little faster. maybe it'll get a little better when they get the other tower put up in my area.

I know with the sedgwick county cars.. and the KHP guys that use the 800 trunk through wichita have great range in the vehicles.. portables (i would know) are a different story though..

Sedgwick co. 9-1-1 has been have alot of "fun" with the new dispatch center the last few months.. anyone that works or listens knows what i'm talking about..
