Hey Shawn...from what I have seen it looks like it will be a Moto 800Mhz Smartzone and looks like it should be both analog and digital with computer terminal data thrown in...I have the Richmond freqs programmed in so that when it "goes live" here I will be able to update everyone...

From what I have seen so far it looks like state agencies only at first...I guess we will have to wait to see if local agencies jump on board later

as i understand the plan, the ksp 800 meg system is to augment their own 400 meg system primarily as tac comms for special units (drug interdiction, etc--hence the air interface) and to allow wider use of mobile data terminals.... from what i understand the system will be both analog and digital wiuth some talk-groups encrypted for security purposes...

i have been told that, in some counties, various non-ksp agencies will also be on the system to allow broader coverage thanis currently available on extant systems....

the 400 meg system will remain in service and the 800 meg system will develop slowly over a number of years as money--federal and state--becomes available.....

I hope not everything will be encrypted!!! Like chases and enroute to domestics also do u think counties will be encrypted ?? Also if 800 in east ky then the mountains will reduce range. I dunno about this 800 mhz ideal Hope ksp knows what their doing!
