You need the USB drivers for the KPG-46 cable and need to install them. In Windows 10 go to your magnifying glass next to you Windows icon and type device manager. Open device manager and look for Ports (COM and LPT) then click on that. From there you should see your cable (plugged into a usb port on the pc) it should tell you what COM# it is. If you are using a Kenwood branded (not knock off KPG-46) it should say silicon labs with a COM Port number to the right. In my case it is comport 5

Then go to your radio software, and click setup then click on COM Port. You can then change the COM Port for the software to look for the cable. Then go to program, and try to "read" the radio.
