L3Harris Radios In Clark County?

I was monitoring SNACC and had NEVCORD53 pop up and heard someone say “L3Harris Radio Test, Crystal Springs, 1, 2, 3, 4, over the networked.” I know Utah Communications Authority is apparently switching to a L3Harris radio system so I wonder if it’s maybe their radio techs checking for interoperability? I know the military also uses these radios. Has anyone else heard anything similar or know about the use of L3Harris in Clark County?

Isn't Harris the preferred builder for all the P25 systems that transitioned from EDACS in Nevada (not including LVMPD).

Remember, the TG you heard on SNACC is a cross-patched channel linking several systems, so yes, you probably heard L3Harris radios via SNACC, but it doesn't mean the L3Harris radios were transmitting directly on SNACC.

I believe NEVCORD53 is a Northern Nevada Mutual Aid TG.
NSRS Members in the North are testing on a few of the P25 sites. They also can test this Group from EDACS. THe XL185 radio does P25 as well as EDACS. Some new members have come on the System as EDACS users until the P25 Sites are built in their coverage area.

The only reason Harris still has any involvement in Nevada is because they manufactured the EDACS product that was one of the original trunk radio systems back in the analog days. When the state decided to move to P 25, perhaps it was a natural choice where they chose Harris. That’s probably the only account that Harris has in Nevada and the only account they will ever have given the negative sentiment towards that company based on the experience that Metro had.

First off L3HARRIS has a P25 System at the VA.
Next- they were chosen for the new NSRS P25 System because they were the only manufacturer that had a seamless integration.
The VIDA Network which is the core, connects EDACS ,P25 and other protocols as well as consoles at a Network (iP) level. No other manufacturer had a viable solution. Given modern P25 Standards ,the operation is the same across all P25 CAP Radios.
Meaning to be CAP certified all radios play the same on any P25 system. Yes each manufacturer has some of their own bells and whistles.

Well, obviously, they are the only manufacturer with an integration between products that they manufacture. But there’s zero chance of them likely ever getting a contract in Clark County ever again with the way they treated Metro and the County previously.

No look up their VIDA product, it offers interoperability between many manufacturers.
