Earlier this year MTA awarded a $117million contact to update CAD/AVL/Radio system for its bus operations, replacing the legacy system that has been operational since 2004.
The winner was Clever Devices a vendor with experience in NYC, Washington, Toronto, Chicago, Miami among others.

This is not related to any future public safety radio requirements.

My understanding is L3H was the vendor that Clever Devices chose for the system. Granted, it may not be directly related, but it IS possible that Metro PD could end up with L3H mobiles & portables (since they cover 900MHz as well), and if Metro does its own dispatch, they may use that system and still have interop with other agencies.

Still a lot of unknowns. My money is still on RICS.

The 900 system has OK coverage for the mobile operations of buses around the county, but would hardly be suitable for handheld use, particularly indoors.

It lacks site density and is not a suitable for critical law operations. Compare MTA 900 with its 6 sites versus LARICS that has over 80 towers across the county to offer coverage.

Was MTA one of the (potential) stakeholders involved in the planning phases of LARICS?

LA-RICS submitted a proposal for this project and was quickly exited for not meeting the minimum requirements.
