From Boulder Daily-Camera:
LAFAYETTE, Colo. — A pedestrian walking along U.S. 287 in Lafayette died Friday afternoon when a car veered off the road and hit him, according to police.
Northbound U.S. 287 remains closed between South Boulder and Baseline roads while police investigate the accident, which happened near the pedestrian bridge north of South Boulder Rd. just after 2:30 p.m.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was walking on the shoulder of the road when he was struck by a 62-year-old woman driving a white Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to police. Investigators believe that the car, which was traveling north on U.S. 287, swerved onto the right shoulder of the road before hitting the man.
The driver, a resident of Boulder, was taken to Exempla hospital after the accident, and police are still determining whether any drugs or alcohol were involved.
