Does anyone know if the Lake County MEG (Drug Unit) Uses radios to call in traffic stops? I've seen a few undercover vehicles recently in Lake County on Traffic Stops, and I'm pretty sure It was Lake County MEG. If anyone knows about this please respond.

They use Nextel.
Some divisions of MEG have encrypted 800Mhz portables (P7100s and no I don't have the frequencies handy, sorry) but for the most part it's all direct connect.
They might identify on Sheriff HP-2 for stops but that's all you'll ever hear of them.

They are on the Lake co EDACS one of the encrypted talkgroups rarely used
I have heard traffic on Gang task force TG that was encrypted. I was a while ago
