That was honestly a very low end estimate on my part since it wasn't my department that built it. Doing more research I'd estimate at least $45-50k in comms stuff and that didn't include any lighting, sirens, or other equipment. Our command vehicle was built on a much smaller budget. Our's only had 1 APX 8500 with a dual head (front and back) instead of 4 separate radios and a VHF NX5700 with a dual head setup along with 1 APX 8000 and 1 NX5200. We didn't have / need a vehicular repeater or a sat phone.

All volunteer LFD members got the Unication g5's. first aid squad members (squad-25) got the APX900.

just an FYI. when Lakewood Ems & FD upgraded P25C Lakewood police switched they're encryption from DES to AES-256. They also can now utilize OTAR.
