Large Wildfire south of Milton, Florida

This afternoon several Fire Departments from Santa Rosa County are responding to a Large Brush Fire south of Milton, Florida. There is heavy smoke on I-10 and some of the roads in Santa Rosa County have been closed down. Santa Rosa County has requested help from Tallahassee, Florida for more ground and air units. Right now the fire is about 60 acres. The fire is spreading south. The winds from Tropical Storm Debbie is blowing the fire. The Fire has jumped several roads and fire lines. The area is in a swampy area and is hard to get bulldoziers in.

Update the fire has burned 160 acres. It is 60 percent contained as of 5:30pm Centeral Time.

The I-10 fire is currently estimated at 250 acres and 70 percent contained. Crews will remain on scene overnight.

The Fire is almost under control. Several Fire Departments have been released from the Fire.
The radio station in Milton had severe damage to it's coax.

The fire was started from a tractor that overheated on I-10.
