Hey guys, if we fill up this forum with a bunch of watches and warnings from all over the country it will look like a friggin' train wreck. I see the trend already starting and hopefully it'll get stopped now.

I kinda agree :) I think maybe a "Severe Weather Warning" Sticky Thread might do the trick. I do agree in the fact that posting them one by one could easily get cluttered, but don't think they should be completely eliminated. Anyone else have an opinion>?

That *entire* website is devoted to nothing but SEVERE WEATHER. If someone would like to post a watch/warning, put it in the Tavern.

The "Severe Weather / Storm Chasing" forum is for ... ummm .. let me quote the from the top of the thread:
Top of the thread said:
Severe Weather / Storm Chasing Forum for the discussion of severe weather and storm chasing radio communications related topics.
Any questions?

:)

Yep, I have one :) Since we are quoting the forum description here, How does a Severe Weather Warning not fall under "discussion of severe weather "? Now, I have no use for them because, as I'm sure most do, I hear it come across the scanner anyway. But, *some* may have a need for this and *some* may even benefit from seeing them. Just opinion here, but I think the Tavern has enough crap in it to be posting what *some* may call important weather info. I'm not sure the intentions of this forum when created, but I don't think it's too big of a deal to have them here. JMO

It's ridiculous to post them here, IMO. It's like trying to dispatch your local fire department by message board. The information is delayed when reposted, and probably obsolete by the time most users even see it.

Not to mention that people in areas where the severe weather is actually happening are probably not monitoring RR.com or their favorite Internet chat room. They should have more important things to worry about (like keeping their computers from getting fried by lightning) and faster, more direct ways to receive truly urgent information.

If you must get your severe weather fix from the Internet, then use this page that is updated every 2 minutes from official sources:

Excellent point ... a sticky with links to relevant sites giving out information would be sufficient. All other post of that nature should not be permitted - eats up lots storage + bandwidth with little return value.

Huh? Watches/Warnings can last for hours at a time, sometimes the whole day. Fire Dept. Dispatches need to be instant..

Listen, I agree that this is not the place to be getting your severe weather info, but, what I am saying is, some people may have a need for it or may even benefit from it. Maybe I am wrong and absolutley nobody cares :)

If the severe weather event is beyond what I can monitor, I'll get my information from Weather Channel. Warnings and watches from around the nation will just accumulate for pages and pages of posts that no one really cares about after the fact or outside the immediate listening or chase areas.

Ladies and Gentleman, I agree with the first post.

The spirit of this forum is to discuss Severe Weather and Storm Chasing and how it relates to radio communications and Radioreference.com. Remember, this is radioreference.com

Thank you!
