Lexington county dispatch center just put out a announcement that thier internet is down until 7AM. radios are the only comms still functioning.

Hello Jon and Welcome. You would do better to make a new thread or read some of the other posts. The Unication Pagers and the Uniden SDS100 / SDS200 are the best radios to get due to Lexington and Richland using simulcast sites. However if you are on a budget or find a good deal, you can still use older radios like the Uniden BCD436HP/536HP, Whitler TRX1, Radio Shack Pro-197, and similar models you however at times will have some issues/distortion.
