• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It's OK... they just look foolish, because we are not breaking one damn law.

...and you're right, this is the best forum... I liked when I had my SSB CD with my 100K Linear...
It was tuned and had extra freqs that were in a unassigned area. I was nice and quiet except for a few ppl that also had it.. and the clartfier was fix, so I could go in between freqs.

I had a good time... got up on a hill here and L.A. and got all over the place.

10-4 good buddy ! lets keep it rolling and have some fun,cuz thats what this CB THread is all about,

I remember back in the early 90's we had a bunch of folks who woul gt the biggest baddest radios get the antennas as high as possible, then start running a 500 [or higher] kicker just to talk with friends about 3 to 5 miles away. And since they all were so close blasting with that power they thought they had a big radio.

Let's see running power above the LEGAL setting, using frequencies beyond the LEGAL area. YUP that's all right. I guess for some of you SPECIAL [in your mind ] people it's OK. The rest of us little folk must bow to you..................................................NAW I won't!!

Just about. But they would climb a 100 to 200 foot tree, mount it near the top, run closer to 500 to 750 watts and use modified 10 meter radios and have everything so ramped up it wasn''t funny. [ One guy lived 1/2 mile away from me and would bleed over my AM/FM radio and on the CB no mater what channel you were on he'd bleed over so bad you couldn't hear a thing.

One day while he and his wife were gone someone [still don't know who] took is antenna down the hardway.............[they cut the tree down LOL]

Had a buddy in the L.A. area here that ran a 1000 Watt Linear with a Power Mic... He was heard....Sometimes just to let him know I heard him I would throw an AM Carrier into his SSB freq....He couldn't get out over that....Ha!

No one implied that you must bow, just a light tip of the the hat will do.

I know how my radio was set up.
Freqs 1-40 SSB

Then you flip a little rocker switch on the side and you have freqs. 40-80. SSB

A locked clairifier to get in between those frequencies, so what you hear will be that exact freq you are broadcasting on.

100 W Linear under the front seat.

I forget the antenna, Firestick I think...

Worked great.. I would talk with Australia, Hawaii regularly when when air traffic permitted I even could talk locally.. j/k.
