A trunking system is a combination of frequencies and talkgroups that are used for specific types of communication. Refer to your scanner's documentation on programming both conventional frequencies and trunking systems. A lot of people use software to program their scanners because it can be more convenient, but you can also do it manually.

Also, a "feed" usually refers to somebody broadcasting what is heard on his/her scanner over the internet for others to listen. If you are just wanting to listen to radio transmissions on your own scanner, that's not called a feed.
