i was looking at: http://www.northwestradio.com/interceptnw/media.htm

and was wondering if the media uses those freqs often? it would be so tite to listen to the news helicopters, but i thought the news uses cell phones now days . . .

also, wat does it mean when it says something like: "161.700 S (110.9) KIRO TV/Radio". what is the second freq in parantheses and what's the "S". thanx :)

The S is simplex (direct)or no repeater input/output

The freqs are in use at times but not as active now as when that was published.

The Kiro 161.7 dosent seem to be as active, but I stopped listening to that, they have a 863.075 conventional repeater network but haven't monitored that in awhile. Kiro chopper 710 is on 161.640, constantly during the commute but those reports have up to a 30 or so sec. delay. 450.6875 is Metro traffic and it too is active King 5 freqs have some activity as well as KOMO KCPQ is rarely used. KIRO 710 and 2 other entercom stations KTTH, KBSG were traded back to Bonneville Inc. recently .

The old King 1090 is KPTK, doubt it's used by them. In some major markets, it's not unusual for more than one station to share a freq, especially for the marti or remote broadcasts.

I heard something really wierd on the KIRO 7 Copper freq!!!

yesterday, jan 23 2006, i was trying out those freqs for kiro 7's copper agian. they said the traffic report. then the person back at 710 kiro told the traffic guy (off the normal radio) that it sounded really low. so they tried to play with the audio. then she siad that some other 2-way radio was on their freq. and she said something like "if you are hearing this frequency with a two way radio, you are in big trouble. we are pinpointing your position and we'll find you." it freaked me out because at first i thought i was the one disrupting their radio functions, but then i remembered that scanners of course only pick up radio signals and really don't broadcast any thing. but it was really wierd. i wasn't the cause was i? and i know that she was just saying that . . . i don't think KIRO has the capability to track down radio transmissions, but i could be wrong. everytime i've picked up their freq, they've had audio problems. the first time, the guy said "that sounded really bad". but back to yesterday, kiro tried to switch channels, and it still came in "bad". so they switched agian and now i can't find them. anyways, i thought that was odd.
