Is there a way to search by location to see a list of local members? Seems like that used to be an option a long time ago but if it's still functional I can't find where it was moved to now.

I'm here a lot
That's a good question.

The only thing I can think of now is you can look up Amateur Call Signs for your county at the bottom of the county database page.

But, that will not give you the RadioReference member name. It will give you Callsign, Licensee Name and town location. Hope that helps a little bit.

There is a sticky thread in the Ohio forum; Ohio Members county list. It was suggested users list what county they are in and what they listen to. Allows people to self-disclose their location rather than 'outing' them by default.

Not to complain about the forum, but I made Amateur Extra with a vanity call sign and my old call sign stayed the same for nearly six months.

I concur with the idea of in-State members voicing what county they live in [or city if they are comfortable with it] in the State forums.z

As long as the frequencies are up to date, that means far more to me than which call sign is available.

Some of us do not wish to advertise our location or identity for either professional reasons or privacy concerns. Those that do not mind providing the information will, those who do not will not. It is no secret that some information shared here on RR comes from people working on the systems directly. Identifying them would almost certainly result in their being terminated. Not only would that source dry up but others doing the same thing would stop posting to cover their own butts.

I personally think any website using IP tools to identify and post a users location would be a huge mistake especially in todays world of identity theft and phishing.
