FWIW, I just downloaded the latest NASWA spreadsheet, and it shows Radio Progresso running 50kw non-directional from 0030z to 0400z in Spanish.

Radio Marumby, Brazil, 6080kHz 10kW 0840z not excatly booming in but easily recognisable Portuguese singing and them awful mariachi trumpets, then it sounds like they're singing hymns! About S5 but no fades but a strange intermittant buzzing noise in the background. 11400km. Now singing "Danny Boy"!
WinRadio G303, 90ft OCFD running N-S

South Korea (?) on 6518 being jammed by North Korea with a warbling signal but only on the upper sideband - quite good and clear on LSB! Then at 0900UTC with station announcement and what sounds like the news, the jamming stopped, only to come back at 2minutes past the hour. Peaking S8. No jamming on 6600 with the same station and signal.

Got an email response from WRMI --

Thank you very much Nick. We don't know why this happened yet, but have re-tuned the transmitter to 11565. We appreciate your letting us know.

How do you 'retune' a transmitter to be on the 'correct' frequency ? Surely to comply with regulations it has to be controlled to within a few Hz and also have off-frequency alarms and all sorts of monitoring things - usually a remote receiver looking at carrier frequency and level, audio levels, bandwidth etc.

It's probably a cheapskate outfit generating their signal from a phase locked loop or worse still a signal generator!

I changed my antenna configuration (again) from 100' horizontal "L" N/S, E/W..to 75' straight NW-SE horizontal on the PAR.
Much improved on SW. Here are a couple clips-first is of R. Nikkei, Japan @ 50,000 watts. Second (sorry for its lengthiness) is just tuning the early morning bands to illustrate the powerful signals and typical pileups. Some of the signals out of Asia almost bury the needle. Note that I never use the Icom's preamp.

Ridge have you ever just tried 100ft N-S? That would be your best configuration for your location...

Longer isn't necessarily better...

I can't Nick. There isn't 100' up there to stretch it:( my new setup is 75' long, that's 25' shorter than what I had, which improved SW nicely with only a slight sacrifice in MW. I think the 75' and new direction is a closer MU with the PAR 9:1 than that 100' bent boomerang I had. I'm loving the results.

Well I wasn't specifically referring to the length... I talking about the direction. If you string up X length of wire that runs N-S then you'll get the best receiving signals.

Your receive path would then be E-W and you'll get the best of both worlds. The length of wire doesn't really matter -- be it 50ft, 75ft or 100ft.

Given the variables at my QTH this setup works much better and quieter than straight NS which has already been tried (you have no idea how many trips to the roof:D) I will leave this up there for a while-thanks for the tips though.
BTW, take a few Excedrins then watch my above videos-you'll see I can't do much better:)
