Looking for basic help with a BC296D

I just bought my first scanner in November. A BC296D. I love the scanner but the manual that came with the scanner failed to cover the basic operations of the unit. Using trial and error (more error than success it seems) I have figured out a few things.

Ok, here is what I am trying to figure out; On the first bank I programed - Motorola Type II Smartnet - When I scan and I receive a call, the Talkgroup Tag I programed in shows up ie "Westerville PD1, Worthington FD".
I just finished programing the 2nd bank - Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink - I am receiving on the bank but the the talkgroup tags are not being displayed like they are in the first bank.
Having the same problem with bank 4 an EDACS Wide network too.

How do I get the scanner to display the talkgroup ID's in bank 2 and 4?
I have no idea how i got them to show up in bank 1. :?

Did you yourself program the alpha characters into the scanner, or did the just start showing up?

I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree either, but I think that if you want alpha display for any freq. or TG, you have to program it in.

The other thing is trying to hit the "." (period/decimal) key on the bottom left of the keypad. This will reverse what you see on the display. But it works for every bank, not just selectable for this bank and not that one.

BC296D Help

If you have a computer and the cable with the scanner it's makes ahole lot easier by programming it that way just remember to push trunking for each channel.

I have programed tags for each talkgroup. They show up in bank one and in bank four. They don't show up in bank 2, an APCO25 net. How do I get them to show up? All I get is the memory address ie; 101 to 199, and the bank tag I have for bank 2. :?

Does the display at least show the talkgroup ID?

Lock out the other banks you're scanning, then hold on a TG in Bank 2 (or the one with the problem). Then use my "reverse" fix from my first post. I'm pretty dang sure that's the issue.

You're in ID Scan right vs. ID Search?

Like Mo asked, is the talk group showing, if just channels numbers are coming up it does not sound like you are trunking. Is the a letter in front of 101 if so what is it. If an id comes up in search or scan and it is tagged the tag should show.
