I am a NOAA APT satellite user with a 20+ year old wxsat receiver. (I am the original owner) I use WXtoimg for processing the APT signal. Lately, the signal strength seems to have dropped down to an almost unusable level - Lots of static with a weak signal even though I am using my vintage QFH antenna.
Two things -
Seems like the easiest solution would be to add an inline pre-amp for the 137 MHz band to boost the signal - can anyone offer me guidance or suggest an appropriate pre-amp "chip?"
OR
Can anyone recommend a repair facility that could check the the specs and tweak it? (I'm pretty sure Vanguard Labs is long gone...)
(I'm thinking I would prefer to experiment with a pre-amp rather than find someone to check the alignment)
But, I did find the following link: WEPIX 2000B APT Satellite Receiver
Thanks in advance!
