All started with the Patrolman 9 (on right) then went to a DX-160 with a external digital readout at the time really nice!
(it is the small gray box above the cassette recorder ) bought it on SPEEDX ...this pic is like 1978/9 ...but I would say DX-160 ...thats my opinion...73,s gud dx...Marcy
( I had Collins mechanical filters installed in it too..if I remember correctly ,,,been long time!!)

That speaker was specifically made for the metal shortwave receivers and I had two of them from when they were new. Built like the radios were, used them for decades with an adapter LOL. I believe I still have one in the radio graveyard in the garage.😄.

I got a good deal on a Radio Shack DX-394 a few months ago. It is an A model from 1995 but it still works well and I enjoy using it.

That was the radio I used for am dxing.. specifically to listen to Art Bell- Coast to Coast AM from all of the Clear Channel stations overnight.. great little radio, on and off always got at least 8 stations that would drift in and out.

My hometown station would sometimes play sports when Art Bell was on so I had no choice.

I regret now that I sold it, I would love to have it now. It would be worth a lot more to me now than what I got for it.
