In the last two months I've started to hear intermod or some other kind of interference on railroad frequencies in the lower part of the railroad band. The specific frequencies I'm hearing the noise on are 160.26, 160.32, and 160.26 MHz. I've asked on the Scanner Net we hold in the Denver Area on Sunday nights on a ham repeater for ideas...

Someone suggested trying putting the same frequency (160.32) with different types of modulation; NXDN, DMR, P-25 to see if I could find some thing to give me direction on where the interference is coming from. So far, the only type of modulation I found the interference on other than NFM, is P-25.

I'm thinking is a new control frequency since it's intermittent.

Does the group have any ideas?

I forgot about the Sunday night Scanner Net. What frequency and time is it?

Every Sunday evening at 8 pm on the 145.46 repeater in Boulder and linked to the 145.16 repeater in Colorado Springs. The 145.46 repeater can be hit from almost allover the Denver Metro Area.

I'm south of town and experiencing the same thing. It's also happening in the 167.xxx range and doesn't sound anything like Whiskey's link. Sounds more like a weak signal from here.

I've been getting a buzzing sound on the VHF Fed band too. I can't say I've heard of this type of digital signal before.

I read that this is based in Pueblo, but could possibly be running tests at other locations.

Interestingly enough, this 'interference' has stopped in the last week or two. I'm guessing it was a new system that was bleeding over in to other systems. Good ideas and I have no idea what it was but it's stopped.... Thanks for the suggestions!
