I wonder if they will have a problem with scanners? I see they won't allow coolers. I think I will take a big bottle of water.

Thanks for the freqs...

The "latest update" I've seen was in a recent issue of Monitoring Times magazine. That's probably the most up-to-date printed list around.

I have decided to keep the pics in this forum. Seems better suited for them.

For pics see my other two threads.

I would suggest signal stalking, close calling or just plain old seaching in the 216-220 and 902-928 bands around the T-Bird comm cart. They are using quite a bit of wireless headsets, mikes and audio relays. Might need something along the lines of medium bandwidth FM receive to really make it work for you.

Thanks for that info. I didn't have much time to look at the scanner during the show, so I can't confirm any of them. I noticed one of them you listed was digital, and that would explain the clicking I was hearing off and on. I only had my 97 with me, so I couldn't recieve that. The clicking sound was familiar though. When one of the local counties here went digital, that is all I would get on their freq.

I didn't miss all coms. though. I had pleanty to listen to with the other freqs. It put a differant twist on the air show being able to listen while making exposures with the camera.

Thaks again to all who posted info!!!

A ? for anyone. I only caught the tail end of this comm. but, the one tech said got ________ but no elmo just after the engine test. He was up by the cockpit and looking back at the comm. cart. The next thing I knew they pulled that plane out of the line up, and towed it to the end of the taxi way. It never flew that day.

My guess is he was refering to the Camera on the jet that sends Video back to the Comm cart. If you look closley at that T-bird, you will see an extra Antenna just aft of the upper TACAN antenna. The antenna is for the ELMO camera data link.

Thanks, that would make sense. I noticed the last line of your signature. Heard that a lot from the commander during the show. Also the occasional grunt from pulling G's I'm sure.

It was a treat to listen in on the comms. They were all telling some jokes just before they started out. I guess to release any tension they had.

Thanks again!

It seems that Larry tries to get one out at every year; at least that's the way it has seemed for the last 2 or 3. 73s Mike

Actually Mike, your a bit off. This year's column is the 8th consecutive year we have published the annual airshow column in my MT Milcom missive and have posted it for free to the MT website as a service to the radio hobby, and for those who send us feedback for future annual editions.
