I have been listening to the scanner pretty constant for the last couple of days and I have noticed every other day or so I can recieve New Boston police. Yesterday I listened to them most of the evening, and the same a couple of days before that. But today nothing. So I bought an 800 exterior antenna for my home but still nothing as far as New Boston is concerned. Do you think something could be wrong with my scanner? Its about 2 years old and I will admit it has benn dropped a couple of times. But at the same time I still recieve other 800 frequencies from Bowie County sheriffs dept. Thanks for all of your help. Just thought this might help diagnose my issue.

If you're hearing the other Bowie County agencies, such as the Sheriff's Office, and Texarkana. on the GATRRS system, then the problem is not in your scanner. Other than the New Boston TGIDs, somehow, being locked out, if you are hearing other talkgroups, then the scanner itself is OK.

Do you have both of the sites programmed? There are two sites. One, with six frequencies, is in Texarkana. The New Boston site has three frequencies. If you only had the Texarkana site entered, then you might miss out on New Boston. But, even if you have both sites entered, depending on how you set the system up, it's possible that your scanner is not checking the New Boston site. If it hears Texarkana, it might stop there & not also check the second site.

There is a setting for the site that can have it always check both sites. But it's possible that if set differently, the second set of frequencies (the New Boston site) would not be used. That's why I was asking if you had the programming cable. I know you've said you programmed without software. But, if you have the cable, you could install one of the software programs and use it's 30-day free trial period to read your programming into software. Then, attach that file to a post so that I, or someone else, could take a look & see if we spot something that might be changed.

Go into Edit mode on the scanner, and get to your programming for the GATRRS site. Scroll down (in the edit menu) past the "Expert Below" marker. Find the line that is labeled as Multi-Site mode. What is that set to?
