Loudoun Co. Virginia Fire and Rescue

Why can I pick up Loudoun County, Va fire and rescue with my Uniden 246t but not with my Uniden bcd436hp which I programmed with Sentinel software.

The BC246T is analog only. Anything received with that scanner are conventional frequencies. Loudoun County is using a P25 Phase 2 trunked system with a simulcast site. You most likely are experiencing simulcast distortion with the trunked system using the BCD436HP.

Give this Loudoun County hpe favorites list file a try. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it: Loudoun Co VA Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, open the extracted file. It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel.

marcandrita, please check previous post #6. There is a Loudoun County favorites list file for you to try to determine if you have a programming problem. Before you Write to Scanner in Sentinel, in the Profile Editor, both Download and Monitor need to be set to On for the new Loudoun Co VA favorites list. Set Download and Monitor to Off for any other favorites lists. Remove the check marks from Monitor Full Database and Monitor Seach with Scan. When you Write to Scanner, check the box to Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner before you click on OK. Scanner must be in USB Mass Storage before you write to it.

Thanks for your help. I added the zipped file to my favorites list and set up a quick key. However, when I try to listen to the new favorites list, it states nothing to scan. I followed your directions with the exception of checking the box to Erase Favorites Lists since it stated all favorite lists would be erased. Not sure if this effected anything. Any suggestions? Thx.

The box to Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner just clears the scanner to start from scratch. It has no effect on favorites lists in Sentinel. In the profile editor, check that Custom 1 service type is enabled. Did you set both Download and Monitor to On for the favorites list before you Write to Scanner?

Thanks for your help. The zipped file made a difference. However, normally I can only hear Loudoun when traveling in my car.
