Low volume on pro 164

Just wanted to know if anyone has this problem.I have Sullivan co (freq) programed into #0 in the scanner.the volume must be turned wide open just to hear.whats up??? thanks ..

It is possible that something is wrong with the scanner. Before determining that, I have three questions:

1. Do you have other frequencies programmed into the scanner?

2. If so, do they have the same issue?

3. Do you have another scanner where you can check the frequency? Sometimes systems have the volume turned down low unknowingly, as their own volume controls may have it at an adequate level.

Yep,i have other freq programed into the scanner.Sullivan County,Tri-Cities Communications (Kingsport),Eastman Kodak (Kingsport) ,American Electric Power (Eastern US) and i also have some Conventional freq programed to..they have great volume .only the trunking freq have low volume.

Thanks for the reply.I do have 4 trunking freq in 0-4 they all have low volume in ch#5 i have (conv) freq programed and they have great volume.is it normal to have low volume for the trunking freq??

As I said, I haven't listened to this particular system. I have monitored other trunking systems and haven't noticed any particular trend regarding volume. Perhaps a forum regular with more knowledge than me can weigh in on this.

Do you have G or A at the top near the signal strength indicator? If you're Attenuating the signal that may be some of the cause, but that's usually only an issue on AM frequencies.

How does the volume compare to other systems if listened to through headphones or an external speaker?

Have you tried entering other trunked systems to rule out it being something on the Transmit side of things?
