I can't wait till' Lucas County Sheriff goes digital. I am in western Lucas County and Lucas County Sheriff has been coming in terible out here, anyone know why or how I could improve my recep.? I have a mobile antena but the only thing that piece of crap is good for is low band. My rubber ducky works better than it. Plus, anyone have any ideas where the repeaters are located at? Thank you

Unless they put up many towers, which given the current budget problems is not looking likely, a digital system will be worse than the current 400 MHz analog system.

I don't know much about antennaes but I'm sure an outdoor antenna on the roof would improve your reception.

As far as I know the only repeater for the Sheriff is a 100 Watt with the tower located on top of 1 Seagate. Somebody else correct me if I'm wrong.

I looked at the license, KXF618, and it looks like the sheriff uses two repeaters for primary operations. Repeater output frequencies are
460.275 authorized 125 watts ERP at HAAT 51 meters (160 ft)
460.475 authorized 250 watts ERP at HAAT 51 meters

license shows antenna at county jail 1622 Speilbusch in Toledo

I hope you have programed in the repeater output above and not the inputs on 465.xxx. HAAT is height above average terrain, so it is a fairly low tower at almost 160 feet to tip of antenna, but should cover the county.

I have no idea where the jail is, but the latitude and longitude for the street address it shows on the license is where the transmit antenna should be. You can't move without coordination and modification of license.

According to a guy I know at Bender Communications LCSO uses 1 tx site downtown and multiple rx sites throughout the county.

I can hear Lucas County Sheriff on 460.475 MHz., just fine from near Ann Arbor. I am using an outdoor discone, with Belden 9913 coax. Although there is some white noise on the singal, I can hear what they are saying very clearly

Toledo Correctional Institue of off of 280, I believe, I don't understand why Lucas County doesn't go on Toledo's system.

Lucas Co

I work for a PD Dispatch Center N/O Detroit that is on the same freq. as Lucas Co (460.475) and we hear them all the time, occassionally better then our own cars. If you can't solve the problem, c'mon up to MI.... :)

RE:

You'd figure with a populated county like lucas they'd be on a trunking system already. Like the other night for instance, Sylvania Twp, Sylvania City, Lucas County Sheriff and OSP were searching for a suspect that had stabbed someone. Lucas 301, 3 and 4 were looking for him. 4 yelled "4 Lucas, I got him!! and then he broke up but it sounded like he said close the air. Did anyone hear that? Anyways, a trunking system would be very beneficial; OSP, LCSO, Sylvania Twp, and city will have the ability to go to a mutual aid freq when these types of things happen. Depending on if the WHOLE county goes to it. Does anyone know who is going to move to the new system that will be in place someday with in the next year, so they say. I don't think it'll happen in a year but, we'll, see. Anyone who wants to reply I would appreciate.

You don't need a trunked system to have a mutual aid frequency...

RE:

From what I understand it is going to be a subsystem of the Ohio Marcs system. I am pretty sure all services in Lucas County will take advantage of this. Toledo does not know if they are going to go online with Lucas County as of yet.

They put out an RFP over the summer for a standalone digital system, linked to but not a part of MARCS, for all public safety ops in the county (including the city.) I haven't heard much since.
