If you're monitoring activity at the base this year, be sure to post any new talkgroups from the P25 radio system, and any and all conventional frequencies that are used in the 118-136 MHz civil air band, 138-144 & 148-150.8 MHz military air-air/goverment land mobile band, 225-380 MHz military air band, 380-400 MHz military/goverment land mobile band, and 406-420 MHz military/goverment land mobile band.

In years past, surrounding cities supplied officers to help Luke police with law enforcement and traffic control, both on and off base, so be sure to check the RWC system (G and O deck interoperability talkgroups in particular) and the Maricopa County system (MCSO Special Events talkgroups in particular) for activity. It probably wouldn't hurt to search for new talkgroups, as well.

If you want, include public-use frequencies, such as Ham radio (particularly simplex in the 6m-23cm bands), 49 MHz, MURS, GMRS and FRS bands that you hear.

I work Noon-5pm today and Saturday. I'm off Sunday, but won't be out at the base, but I'll try to listen from home.

Yesterday Luke Fire was on the air a bunch. They were the only units I heard on their trunking system.

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
What's a good place to sit and watch without having to go on base? I'd like to take my younger two kids to see the airplanes but they're still a bit too little to be on their feet all day in the direct sun. If I take 'em to the whole thing they're liable to come home as little sunburned grouch monsters. ;)

If we can find a nice spot to park and watch for a couple hours though I think they'll really enjoy that, and the car will be right there if they want to sit someplace air conditioned for a while. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You might try the parking lot for Wildlife World Zoo and park near Litchfield Park where you will be mostly out of the way of zoo-goers. You won't have a real super good view, but you'll likely get to see quite a bit. Whenever I'm at the zoo I see the jets zipping by overhead and you're not far from the runway.

Oh man, I'm getting excited thinking about it, even though I won't be there to watch it and am too far away to see/hear any of the jets.

I've thought about going over to Glendale airport, and sitting in one of their parking lots on the west side of the road that goes into the airport. I think it's a mostly clear view to the west, towards the base. And the few times that I've driven by the lots, they were empty.
Another suggestion, is drive a little farther west, and see if there's any businesses along Glendale Ave where you can park. I don't know how accomodating any of them would be, however, or how long you could get away with it, without being a paying customer, but if one of them is a fast food place, maybe buying a kids meal (or 2 lol) would satisfy them for awhile. I know that parking for the open house costs $10. (Near Glendale Ave and Litchfield Rd, maybe the southeast corner, for those walking into the base. There's a second, park-and-ride shuttle bus lot somewhere north of the base, that's also $10.)

Identified by users over the air:
G-9 Interior
G-11 Traffic

Newly heard:
G-6 "Operations to division [x]" (TG 1731)

During a search for a missing child, it was mentioned that a Sgt was in radio contact with a/the parent(s). I'm wondering, what kind of radio was being used? MURS? FRS/GMRS? Something else? If anyone was on the base, and was monitoring public-use radio services, did you hear anything along these lines? It was not on RWC G-deck, or the Luke AFB system.

Side note to that incident my wife was at the show Sunday and the parents who lost their kid were sitting right behind her.. They apparently found the kid fairly quickly from what she told me. The parents did have FRS radio with them and apparently they had some bike and other units who had FRS radios to utilize and intervene in situations.
